Launch of a new service.

DSC_0347Another week of unpredictable weather, which I guess is not a surprise given that we are just out of February. I hope March sees the weather starting to settle, which should give us all a chance to get on a river bank in pursuit of a springer! The forecast for the week ahead sees the weather settling down, so fingers crossed.

Most rivers last week found the conditions pretty tough. Dee rods still fished, with beats around the Dess area connecting with fish due to current temperatures. Here’s hoping for a fresh run of fish to keep anglers fishing this week busy – I look forward to seeing the catches pages this week.

The highlight of last week was attending the Glasgow Angling Centres weekend extravaganza. There were a lot of people to catch up with from owners, guides, anglers to TV fishing celebrities. A weekend of huge crowds, enjoying some fantastic fishing offers. A huge thank you to Paul Devlin and the GAC team who looked after the FishPal team so well. They really do know how to host a great event with energy and fun in equal quantities.

For those of you who did not attend the GAC open weekend I would like to announce that FishPal are now working in partnership with SportQuest, introducing fishing destinations across the globe to anglers. SportQuest certainly have the expert destination knowledge you want from a company when booking a trip abroad. Very shortly new, bespoke site pages will be live giving you the information required to research your next overseas trip. You can of course always pick up the phone and speak to a member of staff if you would prefer on 01573 470612, to discuss destinations, when to go etc. Exciting times and I hope you find this new service to be really worthwhile addition.

This week will see me travelling north to the Findhorn, visiting beats and our many contacts as we look to enhance the Fish Findhorn site. Hopefully with the chance to cast a line, time permitting. You may have noticed that during the last few weeks we have been adding more availability on FishFindhorn. If you haven’t fished this beautiful river before then I would strongly recommend speaking with Tom Carter and booking a trip this year.

Great to see the first fresh fish caught on Altyre last Friday and hopefully more coming off in the week ahead – stay tuned!

Keep your photographs of springers coming in. It is great to share them with an audience of anglers who appreciate that you have taken the time to send a photograph into FishPal.

Tight lines everybody!

Mark
